Gene Editing Technician - Tissue Culture

Job Summary
Gene Editing Technician focused on advancing gene-editing through plant tissue culture and transformation. Responsibilities include supporting tissue culture growth in culture chambers, monitoring plantlet and seedling development, transplanting, seed/tissue harvest, grinding tissue samples, media preparation, and related greenhouse activities; operating aseptically in a laminar flow hood; assisting with tissue transformation; and general lab maintenance and record-keeping. Requires hands-on tissue culture experience, aseptic technique, familiarity with molecular biology or tissue culture labs, strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with Excel/Access, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Safety, quality management, and proper housekeeping are emphasized, with physical duties including frequent standing and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work locations may include office and warehouse environments and field conditions as described by the employer.
Required Qualifications
- Plant Tissue Culture experience
- Experience working in a molecular biology or tissue culture laboratory
- Hands-on experience with plant tissue culture techniques in plants
- Aseptic Lab Technique Experience
- Experience with aseptic laboratory techniques and/or working within Laminar flow hoods
- Plant-specific experience not required
- High school diploma/ GED
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Access)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Laboratory Best Practices skills
