Job Summary
General Manager, Budget responsible for leading district budgeting efforts, including preparation of the district’s budget and property tax millage assessments, coordinating with divisions and the Florida Department of Education on FTE projections, and conducting high-level budget and expenditure trend analyses to support financial integrity and continuous improvement. The role requires ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, GASB/GAAP standards, supervising staff, guiding policy standardization, and facilitating collaboration across district departments and suppliers. The position involves training employees, communicating policies, representing the department in meetings with other school district departments and public agencies, and traveling to various school sites as needed to support district operations.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in business/accounting or related field preferred
- Eight years of accounting/budget/finance experience with five years of supervisory/management experience preferred
- Experience in governmental accounting, budget, or finance may substitute for master’s requirement with more years of experience
- Experience in public school administration or large diverse organizations preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and district data systems
- Strong analytical, leadership, and training abilities
