Job Summary
Conduct classroom instruction in Language Arts, Math, Science, and History for GED participants at the 7th Avenue Center and Lackawanna County Prison, delivering content in both English and Spanish. Assess individuals upon intake, develop individualized learning plans, and monitor progress toward certification completion. Coordinate wraparound services, manage participant referrals, and maintain accurate documentation of case contact and program data. Assist with grant processes, prepare training materials, and support broader program operations including supply orders and office management. Requires daily in-person attendance and ability to work within a prison environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, including reading, writing and instruction in both languages
- Bachelor's degree and/or two to four years of related experience and training
- Current ACT 33 (Child Abuse) and ACT 34 (Criminal Background) clearances
- Lackawanna County Prison Background check
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain additional clearances as required
- Ability to work effectively within a prison environment
- Working knowledge of agency databases, MS Office software, and Internet software
- Ability to type 40 wpm
- Daily in-person attendance
- Local travel for off-site class instruction, training purposes, and occasional regional travel
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching experience in human services, math, and general studies
- Work with justice-involved populations and individuals transitioning from incarceration
- Familiarity with the court system
