Gear Machinist II, 1st Shift

Job Summary
Gear Machinist II sets up and operates one or more gear shaping machines to machine splines or gear teeth in metal blanks, using process sheets, blueprints and setup cards. Responsible for inserting and securing tooling, performing machine setups, calibrating with preset gauges, and training less experienced machinists. Maintains quality and documentation, inspects own work and may inspect others, and enters data into ERP. Works with supervisor/programmer/support teams to resolve issues, rotates between departments as needed, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for a full shift, with experience reading engineering drawings, performing basic math calculations, and applying troubleshooting skills. Machines used include Fellows, Barber, Coleman, Pfauter, Gleason, and S&T; production context spans multiple centers with emphasis on gear manufacturing and quality control.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of related machining experience
- Knowledge of machining principles and methods
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for an entire shift
