Job Summary
Gear Engineering Team Lead with responsibility to direct and develop a gear processing team focused on maintenance and development for hypoid ring and pinion gears. Lead activities include CNC programming for pinion & ring blanking, tool/workholding selection, vendor quotations, RFAs/cost justifications, and coordinating APQP-related manufacturing launches. Key duties include overseeing gear processing operations, coordinating with maintenance, automation, operations, scheduling, and Corporate Manufacturing Group to meet plant goals; implementing best practices to improve safety, quality and productivity; sustaining improvements through training, PFMEA, Control Plans, and visual work instructions; developing Supervisors, Team Leaders and Operators; managing capacity planning and capital budgeting; supporting engineering intern recruitment; and traveling as required for machine manufacturers, customers, suppliers, and other locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering or technology field w/CNC programming capability
- minimum of 7 yrs experience
- read & interpret engineering drawings & specifications, including geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) standards
- proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and machine-specific software
- ability to travel domestically or internationally and obtain passport for foreign travel
- strong problem-solving skills and effective communication in English
