Job Summary
Design, implement, and unit-test features across AEMS applications and the underlying Habitat platform, including real-time SCADA, network applications, and operator UI. Contribute to modernization work on GridOS involving containerized deployments, hybrid cloud topologies, and Zero Trust security patterns. Participate in agile delivery squads for feature planning, code review, and defect triage while supporting field deployments and customer issue resolution. Translate utility operator requirements into working software by collaborating with product managers and systems engineers. Grow domain fluency in transmission power systems including state estimation and wide-area monitoring. This entry-level role offers a direct path into the operational nerve center of the transmission grid, where the team is actively modernizing the platform for hybrid cloud and AI-enabled applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Foundational proficiency in at least one modern language used across the AEMS stack (C++, C#, Java, Python, or TypeScript/JavaScript)
- Working knowledge of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, version control (Git), testing, and debugging
- Exposure to Linux and/or Windows server environments
- 0-1 year experience in software engineering
- The required work location is Bellevue, WA

Desired Qualifications
- Prior GE Vernova internship experience, particularly on Grid Software, AEMS, ADMS, DERMS, or Markets products
- Coursework or project experience in one or more of: power systems, control systems, distributed systems, real-time systems, cloud/Kubernetes, cybersecurity, or data engineering
- Familiarity with agile development, container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, or observability tooling
- Interest in the energy transition, grid decarbonization, or the operational software behind bulk electric systems
