Job Summary
GCP Cloud Engineer to stabilize, support, and operate the GCP infrastructure for a state-governed health information exchange project. Role involves infrastructure design and operations across DEV/QA/STAGE/PROD, IaC via Terraform, Azure DevOps CI/CD, containerized workloads (Kubernetes/Docker), and secure data integration with healthcare regulators. Collaborate with architecture, security, and data teams to ensure platform reliability, security, and compliance in a regulated environment. The position emphasizes autonomous operation, incident response, documentation, and governance, with preference for candidates in the Indianapolis, IN; Dallas, TX; or Chicago, IL areas; remote work is supported.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on cloud engineering or DevOps on GCP in large production environments
- Deep expertise in Terraform-based infrastructure deployments
- Strong experience with Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, CI/CD)
- Experience with containerized platforms (Kubernetes, Docker) including container observability
- Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- Experience with Airflow/Cloud Composer for data pipelines
- Experience with Git-based workflows and release management
- Strong troubleshooting skills in complex, integrated environments
- Google Associate Cloud Engineer certification or higher
- Willing to travel ~10%
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Experience with Healthcare IT, HIE, or SHIE platforms
- Familiarity with HIPAA, PII, and data governance requirements
- Experience integrating with external partners, state agencies, or regulated systems
