GBH Archives Internship - Fall 2026 (AAPB Exhibit Curator)

Job Summary

Select an exhibit topic and identify relevant AAPB records for inclusion in a new digital exhibit. Draft a complete exhibit narrative and section descriptions for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting website, supplying images, interactive maps, and timelines. Work with the Media Historian to improve metadata for selected records and develop ancillary materials. Research authoritative sources on U.S. history and media topics to ensure the exhibit is informative and engaging.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current student in an accredited graduate program
  • Graduate coursework in U.S. History, Media Studies, Museum Studies, or Library Science and/or Archives
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing
  • Ability to conduct research using authoritative sources
  • Knowledge of U. S. history since 1950
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines, follow work plans, and accept feedback
  • Must be willing to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday
  • Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wi-Fi
  • Candidates must be in an Undergrad or Grad program and have work authorization for the United States

Desired Qualifications

  • Grain knowledge of and experience in digital media curation
  • Interest and experience with U.S. history
  • Interest and experience with media history
  • Interest and experience with museums, libraries, and archives
  • Interest and experience with working with online audiovisual materials
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
