Job Summary
Conduct endoscopic procedures in the ICU, operating room, and interventional radiology by setting up rooms, scrubbing, and assisting providers with diagnostic and therapeutic tasks. Manage pre- and post-procedure decontamination of scopes, transport equipment, and handle specimens according to infection control protocols. Document procedure data, supply usage, and patient charges while maintaining accurate logs and equipment maintenance records. Perform 24-hour call once weekly with one weekend every six weeks, requiring daily tram use and rapid arrival within 30 minutes of paging.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Surgical Technology program from a community college
- One year of experience, within the last five years of clinical or hospital-based GI procedure unit or a surgical procedure room setting including assembling supplies and instruments; preparing room for procedures; and participating as a member of the procedural team
- BLS certificate within 30 days of hire or prior to independent practice, whichever comes first
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
- Must be able to ride tram daily
- Must be able to arrive to OHSU within 30 minutes of being paged when on call
- 24 hour call once per week
- one weekend every 6 weeks
Desired Qualifications
- One year experience as GI Tech or scrub tech
- Familiarity with therapeutic procedures (ERCP, EUS, DBE, POEM, ESD, EMR, etc), bronchoscopy procedures (Bronch, EBUS, ION, etc.), and equipment (Spyglass, Aloka/EUS machine, Olympus, etc.)
- SGNA GI Assistant Certification
- One year of experience in Gastroenterology or another GI field
