Job Summary
Provides professional medical services to patients and exercises independent professional judgment in the care and treatment of patients. Orders and prescribes medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care and other health services; prescribes pharmaceuticals. Consults with patients and families, provides education, and refers patients to appropriate specialists to ensure multidisciplinary care. Documents care for medical records and assigns diagnostic/procedural codes for insurance billing. Supervises other medical professionals and adheres to medical ethics. Requires North Carolina Medical License and board certification in Gastroenterology; DEA and ACLS certifications preferred. English language proficiency expected. This role is classified as Full Time in the UNC Rex Healthcare Rex GI Hospitalists unit in NC. Qualifications include board certification in Gastroenterology; licensure (DEA), and prior hospitalist experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Meet the Board Certification requirements. Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.
