Job Summary
Evaluate patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and hepatobiliary conditions through comprehensive assessments and physical examinations. Diagnose and manage disorders including GERD, IBD, IBS, peptic ulcer disease, chronic liver disease, viral hepatitis, and pancreatic disorders. Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, imaging, and pathology results while developing evidence-based treatment plans and prescribing medications. Provide pre- and post-procedure evaluations for endoscopic services and educate patients on disease management, nutrition, and preventive care. Collaborate with primary care providers, surgeons, oncology, and other specialists to coordinate referrals and document encounters in the EMR. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and may assist with inpatient consults or procedural support as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current state licensure as an NP or PA
- National board certification (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA, or equivalent)
- DEA registration and prescriptive authority
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of gastrointestinal diseases and current treatment guidelines
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
Desired Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, hospital medicine, or primary care
- Experience with EMR systems
