Gas Trainee Operative

Gas Trainee Operative reports to the Assistant Network Lead and assists the Main Layer with tasks to maintain quality of service within the gas distribution network. Responsibilities include mains replacement, new service installations, district governor maintenance, dial before you dig, mains surveying, service disconnections, and general duties as required. The role involves assisting with maintenance and operations on the gas distribution network, providing technical input to resolve hazards, collecting and reporting operational data, coordinating with contractors, and supporting health and safety initiatives. The candidate will work with the team to investigate and control leaks, minimise disruption to customers, participate in emergency call-out duty rosters (one week in four), and liaise with the public and external agencies as needed.
