Job Summary
Entry-level Gas Operations Technician I will assist with operation, maintenance, and construction of Dominion Energy South Carolina’s natural gas system, working alongside a Gas Operations Technician III. Responsibilities include responding to pipeline damages, repairing/replacing underground gas pipelines and fittings, performing meter-related tasks (blocking/unblocking/pulling meters for testing, odorant checks), conducting leak surveys and atmospheric corrosion surveys, performing valve maintenance, and participating in the four-year Gas Apprentice Training Program with OQ requirements. The role requires readiness for call-outs/overtime, the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and traveling to the Gas Training Center in Cayce, SC for initial four days of employment. Preferred qualifications include experience with natural gas pipeline construction/maintenance, underground line locating, and obtaining a Class A CDL within six months. The position starts in September 2026 and may require travel up to 25%.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0-2 years’ work experience or military service members/veterans ranks E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3
- Commercial Driver's License (Class A) within six months of start date
- Ability to wear SCBA in hazardous environments
- Must be able to work overtime and be available for call out
- Must live within the service territory of the assigned work locations
