Job Summary
Gas Mechanic A duties include operating air compressors and assorted pneumatic/hydraulic tools, assisting higher-grade gas mechanics with maintenance, repair and construction of gas facilities, performing related field clerical tasks, and conducting inspections under supervision; advancement to Gas Mechanic B possible after one year of satisfactory performance and completion of Gas Mechanic B school. Requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of education in electrical/mechanical/gas theory or 12 months related mechanical experience, valid driver's license, and ability to pass physical abilities and aptitude tests; subject to DOT safety regulations and union-bargaining terms.
Required Qualifications
- Must have one year's educational background in electrical, mechanical or gas theory or twelve (12) months' experience in related mechanical work
- Must pass physical abilities examination
- Must pass validated aptitude test
- Must have a valid drivers license with a safe driving history that meets National Grids Safe Driver Policy
- Must have high school diploma or GED
