Job Summary
Locate underground utilities, troubleshoot issues, and mark the ground using paint and flags to promote damage prevention. Read maps, interpret blueprints, and determine the best method and sequence for locating with provided equipment. Use a tablet to receive, document, and process tickets and emails while communicating effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners. We train entry-level and experienced technicians on the job, requiring a preference for outdoor work in all weather conditions, independent problem-solving, and the ability to walk up to 5 miles daily. Flexible scheduling includes evenings, weekends, and an occasional holiday, with employees responding to emergency calls during scheduled on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Eighteen years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2-3 times a week
- Ability to carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs
- Ability to lift in excess of 75 lbs with tool aids
- Preference to work outdoors in all weather
- Desire to work independently
- Ability to problem-solve with speed and accuracy
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (some evenings, weekends, and an occasional Holiday)
- Ability to respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotation
- Pass pre-employment background and drug screening
