Job Summary
Gas Locate Technician responsible for using locating equipment to determine gas-line locations in designated areas, marking the area with paint/flags to prevent damage, and performing hand-digging as needed. The role emphasizes safety, field autonomy, and knowledge of underground utility infrastructure, with potential to locate other utilities depending on the project. Requires ability to work daytime full-time, overtime, weekends, on-call shifts, and local travel; training is provided and a company vehicle, equipment, and benefits are offered. Strong emphasis on following damage-prevention guidelines, safe driving, and clear communication with team members, customers, and contractors; prior outdoor experience is a plus and a valid driver’s license is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Safe driving record
- Able to stand and walk for long periods
- Able to lift up to 75 lbs
- Able to travel locally and some overnight travel
- Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position)
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather
- Computer proficiency
- Read and reference locate tickets/maps/prints
- Clear communication with colleagues, customers, contractors, homeowners
