Job Summary
Assist with setup, operation, and breakdown of job sites for gas infrastructure installations, supporting fusion technicians with polyethylene pipe preparation and alignment. Perform basic fusion techniques under supervision, operate hand and small power tools, and manage mini-excavators and trenching equipment for underground utilities. Read and interpret basic plans, utility maps, and safety drawings while maintaining accurate records of daily work activities and materials used. Follow proper procedures for utility locating and job site safety, assist in inspection and testing of installed gas lines, and ensure tools are properly stored and maintained. Valid driver/operator license and willingness to travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the gas industry
- Prior experience operating Vermeer drills and performing drill locating
- Knowledge of polyethylene fusion processes
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and maps
- Strong understanding of underground utility locating and safety protocols
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on HDD and fusion equipment
- Valid driver/operator license
- Knowledge of gas distribution operations and underground utility installations
- Willingness to travel as required for projects
- Strong commitment to safety, quality standards, and teamwork
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Attention to detail and precision in operating equipment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and stakeholders
