Job Summary
Gas Compliance Manager responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas regulatory compliance program across the service territory. Oversees day-to-day compliance activities, supports regulatory audit readiness, and monitors adherence to PHMSA, DOT, state PUCs, and other applicable regulations. Tracks audit findings, assists in corrective actions, and facilitates root-cause analysis with Operations, Engineering, Safety, and Legal. Maintains compliance documentation, dashboards, and reporting systems; coordinates regulatory audits and investigations; partners with Gas Operations, Engineering, Operational Standards, and other teams to ensure procedures align with regulatory requirements; supports development of mitigation plans and integration of compliance into operational processes and technical standards; travel and field/office presence as needed; requires Bachelor’s degree and substantial regulatory/compliance experience. Also notes professional certifications in compliance-related fields are a plus, and that the role involves liaison activities across multiple departments and regulatory bodies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Engineering, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, Business, or related technical discipline
- Professional certifications in compliance, regulatory affairs, PE, PMP, or Six Sigma are a plus
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in natural gas operations, pipeline safety, regulatory compliance, or related energy infrastructure fields
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Experience supporting regulatory audits, inspections, or compliance monitoring activities
- Familiarity with PHMSA, DOT pipeline safety regulations (Parts 190–199), and state regulatory environments
- Utility or pipeline operator experience strongly preferred
