Gardener/Utility Worker

Maintain hospital building grounds and unskilled maintenance, including mowing turf, edging, operating sprinkler systems, and clearing snow and rubbish from sidewalks. Operate power equipment such as tractors, pole saws, and blowers for preventative maintenance while mixing fertilizers and applying weed control under supervisor guidance. Perform minor construction and repair work on exterior walls, fences, and parking lots, plus painting railings and striping lots. Assist mechanics with internal infrastructure repairs, hang pictures, lube chair rollers, replace light fixtures, and perform emergency flood clean-ups. Prioritize repair work schedules, secure materials, and ensure tools and work areas remain clean and safe. Requires a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and one year of advanced trade school or three years of related experience.
