Job Summary
Oversee all aspects of vegetable production and garden management, including planning, planting, maintaining, and harvesting a wide variety of vegetables. Lead a team of volunteers or employees to ensure successful operation of the garden. Key duties include developing planting schedules and crop rotation plans, managing crop cultivation and harvest activities, supervising and training staff on gardening techniques, organic practices, pest management, soil fertility, and safety protocols, maintaining accurate records of planting dates and yields, organizing educational workshops for the community, and assisting with budget development and resource allocation. Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to promote gardening initiatives and foster community engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent of 7-10 years of experience)
- Proven experience in vegetable gardening, sustainable agriculture, or farming
- Strong understanding of organic gardening practices and pest management
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work physically demanding tasks and in varying weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of budgeting and record-keeping is preferred
