Job Summary
Garden Associate responsible for maintaining, upkeeping, and developing the garden department, including day-to-day operations, inventory management, inspections, resource management (plants, tools, equipment), cross-department collaboration, training of new staff, and maintaining a calendar of garden events. Requires outdoor work in all weather, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, and may involve hazardous materials; position is seasonal with competitive wages and benefits at Ace Hardware.
Required Qualifications
- Experience is preferred but not necessary
- Strong knowledge of plant identification and gardening techniques preferred/not necessary
- Excellent team mentality and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) and work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Valid driver's license (if applicable)
- Preferred Qualifications: Passion for gardening and plants
- Previous retail and customer service experience
- Strong communication and team mentality
- Ability to work weekends and 8-hour shifts
