Job Summary
Perform skilled maintenance, inspection, and repair of automotive and heavy-duty equipment, including transmission work and hydraulic assemblies. Diagnose operating deficiencies in internal combustion engines and utilize hand and power tools under general supervision. Work the 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM Monday through Friday, with availability for emergency restoration assignments and travel between MA, CT, and NH. Requires four and one-half years of experience, a Commercial Driver's License, and high school or vocational training. First consideration given to individuals with contractual rights to the position.
Required Qualifications
- four and one-half years of experience as a fully qualified garage mechanic
- Education and training equivalent to graduation from high school or vocational school, supplemented by a one-year trade school course
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Working knowledge of the operation and construction of internal combustion engines and hydraulic assemblies
- Ability to diagnose operating deficiencies of automotive and hydraulic equipment
- Ability to perform work assignments at the Garage Mechanic level including transmission work
- Ability to perform work assignments at the Garage Mechanic level including work emergency
- Ability to perform work assignments at the Garage Mechanic level including planned overtime
- Ability to acquire a basic knowledge of the Company Safety Manual
- Mechanical ability to use hand/power tools
- Ability to use equipment
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
