Job Summary
Diagnose, adjust, and repair trucks and diesel engines, including overhaul internal combustion engines and rebuild gas or diesel systems. Install and repair industrial refrigeration systems by reading blueprints, braze or solder parts, and charge systems with proper refrigerant. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment, while inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings. Use hand and power tools to rewire ignition systems, adjust protective guards, and dismantle malfunctioning systems to diagnose malfunctions. Test drive vehicles to ensure proper operation and maintain records of repairs, replacements, and vehicle logs in accordance with regulations. Immediately communicate problems with the Supervisor by phone and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years related mechanic experience/and or training
- Minimum two years Thermo King or Carrier refrigeration experience/and or training
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
