Job Summary
The Garage Door Installer / Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of overhead doors, operators, and gate systems in residential and commercial settings. Key responsibilities include ensuring all work is performed according to manufacturer specifications and company standards, conducting preventive maintenance, performing welding and electrical tasks, and adhering to safety regulations. A minimum of 1 year experience in similar roles is preferred, along with strong mechanical skills and a high school diploma or equivalent. The position requires the ability to work independently, a valid driver's license, and a dedication to customer service.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in residential and/or commercial overhead door installation, service, or maintenance preferred
- Competent in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment
- Ability to work at heights using ladders, scissor lifts, or other access equipment
- Physically capable of lifting and handling materials weighing 50 lbs or more
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong customer service orientation and professional communication skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with parking gates, operators, rolling and sectional doors is an asset
- Welding and low-voltage electrical wiring experience preferred (training available)
- Technical or trades-related training (electrical, welding, construction) is an asset
