Job Summary
Game Warden for Yakama Nation Tribal Police (Full-Time). On-call sworn officer responsible for protection of fish, wildlife, and natural resources within Yakama Nation jurisdiction. Duties include patrolling Reservation and ceded areas, enforcing laws and regulations, conducting investigations, making arrests, preparing reports, testifying in court, and participating in search and rescue operations. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, on-call readiness, physical fitness, firearms proficiency, emergency vehicle operation skills, computer/ CAD-MDT use, and completion of Basic Police Officer Training within the first year. On-site, full-time role based in Toppenish, WA, with mandatory training and a strong emphasis on public safety and community relations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must meet minimum age requirement of 21
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Pass criminal background check; under federal standards S.F.86
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit
- Basic Police Officer Training at Indian Police Academy must be completed within first year of hire
- Maintain current basic first aid/CPR card
- Must be in excellent physical condition with annual physicals and Physical Fitness Battery Training
- Must have binocular vision correctable (Snellen) in each eye; near vision sufficient to read Yeager type 11-14 inches
- Must demonstrate ability to operate a computer and CAD/MDT software
- Keyboarding/typing at least 35 wpm
- Must work irregular hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, rotating shifts
- Must understand position and working conditions and their impact on lifestyle
- Must wear departmental uniform
- Must sign code of conduct and understand sanctions for misconduct
