Game Economy Designer [RnD]
Remote
Job Summary
Balance game economy by configuring resource acquisition and expenditure across all game stages, from Tutorial to Late Game. Design progression systems by calculating experience, adjusting game tempo, and managing session limits to drive retention. Build mathematical models for complexity curves and simulate thousands of sessions using Python and SQL to forecast player LTV before feature implementation. Write production-ready GDDs for developers, specifying data formats, analytics requirements, and technical constraints. Audit logic for vulnerabilities and balance issues, then validate findings through playtest data analysis and behavioral metrics. Collaborate with design, development, and analytics teams to implement changes within sprints and propose improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as an economist in mobile F2P games
- Experience configuring Core and Meta cycles
- Mandatory experience working with games in the LiveOps phase
- Deep proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (complex formulas, pivot tables, arrays, indices)
- Ability to build mathematical models that are easy to read, maintain, and change
- Understanding of probability theory (Gacha, drop rates), combinatorics, and progression curve calculation principles
- Understanding of retention metrics (Retention, Session Length) and monetization metrics (LTV, ARPDAU, Conversion Rate)
- Knowledge of SQL for independent data retrieval and analysis
Desired Qualifications
- AI-Native Workflow: using AI tools to accelerate work, simulate thousands of game sessions, generate Python code for balance calculations, and act as a co-pilot for writing technical specifications
- Advanced Python skills (Pandas/NumPy) for complex calculations
- Experience with visual system modeling
- Advanced SQL for complex analytics
- Ability to calculate whether a player will have surplus or deficit of in-game currency over six months of gameplay (LTV 180+) before the conception of a new feature
