Job Summary
Support multiple steel processing departments by ensuring safe operation of lines per manufacturer guidelines and addressing production improvement requests. Respond to out-of-service equipment issues and develop downtime reduction strategies while programming system visualization and controls. Maintain backups of all mill operation software and develop technicians' troubleshooting and programming skills. Work on the mill floor with operations and maintenance teams, available any time day or night for calls. This technical support role enhances steel processing equipment through PLC programming, VFD configuration, and industrial communications systems.
Required Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent safety and attendance record
- Required to be available any time day or night to take calls and call-in's
- Technical degree in field of Electrical Engineering or similar
- Power Distribution systems
- AC/DC Circuitry Components
- Programming and configuration of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC): Siemens PLCs, Step 7 Simatic Manager and TIA Portal
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFD): TMEIC or Siemens
Desired Qualifications
- PC and Control System Networking and Industrial Communications Systems
- Experience with SMS Group Automation Systems including XPact Controllers
- Proficiency using LogiCAD
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic controls
- Know and understand electrical principles and electronics
- Knowledge of diverse electrical equipment
