Job Summary
Handle all program inquiries, including general correspondence with clients, students, businesses, and institutions. Represent the Translation and Interpretation Program in campus-wide activities and oversee mailings for newsletters and brochures. Greet the public and manage phone, in-person, mail, fax, and email communications while maintaining a telephone message pad. Process initial inquiries by distributing relevant program information, brochures, and application materials, and maintain a log book. Assist with program setup, daily correspondence preparation, and updating general information and records using word processing, photocopier, fax, and email software. Maintain office and database files, ensure office equipment functions at working standards, and support program hospitality events. Requires keyboarding skills of 50 w.p.m., proficiency in database management, and strong written/oral communication abilities. This non-exempt, temporary part-time student level A position offers a rate of $16.95 per hour with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year.
Required Qualifications
- Keyboarding skills of approximately 50 w.p.m.
- Current computer skills, to include word processing, knowledge of internet, email and database management (Excel, Access)
- Solid written and oral communication skills
- Professional and courteous telephone skills
- Attention to detail and record keeping skills
- Skilled command of grammar and spelling
- Capacity to prioritize and organize work requests and projects, often under pressure
- Ability to use common office machines such as photocopier, multi-line telephone systems, fax machines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and public relations skills, including ability to work cooperatively with culturally and linguistically diverse students, clients, staff, faculty, and public
- Willingness and ability to comply with Institute policies, procedures, and mandates
- A combination of education and experience, which would demonstrate possession of the skills required for the position
- Minimum three years comparable experience
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to handle lightweight parcels and supplies
- Dexterity for repetitive action such as keyboarding, writing
