Job Summary
Develop products from concept to completion by coordinating with designers and PLM to create market research and manage sample calendars. Provide improvements to the development process, manage fittings and fit comments, and conduct competitive benchmarking for product features. Create development reviews for vendors to identify changes and next steps, negotiate pricing, review bill of materials, and establish size charts. Travel solo overseas to factories to work on design projects and handle other design responsibilities as needed. Requires 3-5 years of product development experience, knowledge of garment manufacturing practices, and proficiency in Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years' experience within the product development field
- Knowledge of manufacturing practice and methods in the garment industry, including sewing, materials, construction layout, and pattern making
- High proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Broad understanding of the development process, create tech packs, work directly with vendors
- Broad understanding of the garment construction, material, and trims
- Understanding of materials, structures, functions, and how they can be used in the development process
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the design, manufacturing, and production process
- Ability to effectively problem solve a variety of issues, while maintaining a solution-based approach
- Physical Requirements: Position performance will require the regular physical ability to walk and function in elevation changes by the means of self-propulsion, to include steps, ladders, and varied walking and working surfaces
- Ability to negotiate warehouse work areas in a safe manner and behavior
- Vision abilities specific to the position will include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Performing in this role will require the use of hands to use and handle tools, objects, materials, and controls
- Performance requires the frequent ability to sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Employee will need to be able to read, write, and understand basics of the English language
- Employee may have to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and up to 45 pounds assisted or if capable
Desired Qualifications
- An interest, or active participation, in the powersports industry is HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Focus on bags/luggage is preferred
- Highly organized, self-starter with the drive to manage vendor partnerships and projects effectively with minimal supervision
- Experience in Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop; project management software is a plus
