Job Summary
HVAC Service Technician needed to diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical/electrical issues, repairing motors, capacitors, compressors, controls, wiring, and refrigerant adjustments; performing thorough system performance tests; following manufacturer specs and safety standards; assisting with installations and occasional on-call rotations. Customer-facing duties involve clearly communicating findings and recommendations, educating clients on maintenance and energy efficiency, and maintaining a professional presence on-site. Additional duties cover seasonal tune-ups, safety inspections, and system optimization to improve airflow, efficiency and comfort. Upsell opportunities include service agreements, indoor air quality upgrades, and system enhancements, with documentation of recommendations in customer notes. Operational benchmarks include completing 3–6 service calls per day with proper documentation, achieving high first-time fix rate, promoting maintenance plans, collecting payment and signatures, and coordinating with dispatch and CSR for efficient scheduling. Required attitudes emphasize problem solving, customer focus, attention to detail, organization, dependability, safety, teamwork, cross-training, and strong local reputation.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years HVAC service experience (residential/light commercial)
- EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) +A2L
- Valid driver’s license and insurable, clean driving record.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow manufacturer instructions.
- Experience with digital diagnostic tools and mobile service apps.
