Job Summary
Furnace Technician on 3rd shift (Mon-Fri 10pm-6:30am) responsible for maintaining, repairing, and cleaning furnaces used in permanent and sand mold departments. Duties include operating flux injection machines, performing fluxing, raking out, and skimming, using jackhammers and chipping guns, operating forklifts and welders, fabricating metal components, welding furnace covers, and training others on furnace operations and testing equipment. Additional responsibilities include performing routine and complex maintenance under supervision, interpreting written/digital work orders, troubleshooting issues, and making repair recommendations. Must work in hot and smoky conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and work up to 12 hours with breaks, in non-climate controlled environments. Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in industrial furnace maintenance or related mechanical trades preferred
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (forklifts, man-lifts) and welders
- Ability to read and interpret written work orders and English-language instructions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks in hot/humid environments
- Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems related to furnaces
- Ability to work a 3rd shift schedule (10pm-6:30am)
- Team leadership or training capability desired
- Safety compliance and PPE usage
- Ability to interpret and follow complex repair procedures
- Experience with fabrication of metal components
