Job Summary
Collect the deceased from various locations, bear coffins, and drive funeral vehicles while maintaining equipment cleanliness. Prepare the deceased for viewings and funerals, engrave name plates, and safely lift heavy loads using proper techniques. Maintain client management applications by inputting detailed, timely information to keep records updated. React calmly and compassionately in emotional circumstances while adhering to health and safety standards and regulatory policies. Full UK manual driving licence and physical ability to lift required; part-time 18.75 hours per week with on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- full manual UK driver's licence
- the ability to perform the physical aspects of the role (such as manual lifting)
- good IT skills, with the confidence to use a range of technology devices (e.g computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and scanners) and the ability to learn and effectively use new applications and systems
- the ability to react calmly and compassionately in emotional circumstances, with a sensitive and empathetic approach to customer service
- strong attention to detail and accuracy, making sure regulatory policies and processes are always adhered to
- the ability to safely lift, carry and move coffins following safe techniques, using handling aids and equipment and following health and safety guidance to prevent injuries
- comfort levels with responsibilities involving direct physical contact with the deceased
- availability for on call rota
- 18.75 hours per week availability
- completion of online assessment
- passing of DBS (disclosure and barring service) checks
- passing of adverse media checks
- passing of occupational health questionnaire
- social media activity on platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram must be clean
