Job Summary
Collect the deceased from various locations and scenarios with professionalism and empathy, then bear coffins and drive funeral vehicles. Prepare coffins, engrave name plates, and prepare the deceased for viewings and funerals while maintaining equipment and facility cleanliness. Safely lift, carry, and move coffins using handling aids and health and safety guidance. Maintain client management applications daily by inputting detailed and timely information to keep records updated. Operate as part of an on-call rota, working Monday to Sunday from 8am to 8pm. This role involves direct physical contact with the deceased, requiring full UK manual driving licence and physical ability to lift.
Required Qualifications
- full manual UK driver's licence
- the ability to perform the physical aspects of the role (such as manual lifting)
- good IT skills, with the confidence to use a range of technology devices (e.g computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and scanners) and the ability to learn and effectively use new applications and systems
- the ability to react calmly and compassionately in emotional circumstances, with a sensitive and empathetic approach to customer service
- strong attention to detail and accuracy, making sure regulatory policies and processes are always adhered to
- DBS (disclosure and barring service) clearance
- adverse media checks clearance
- occupational health questionnaire clearance
- fitness to perform the role as confirmed by occupational health
