Job Summary
The Funeral Manager will plan, organize, direct and supervise all activities of the funeral home, ensuring compassionate, personalized support for families. Core duties include directing funeral services, supervising directors and embalming/administrative services, managing expenditures and receivables, coordinating schedules, and maintaining compliance with laws and policies. Responsible for marketing strategies to grow the client base, coordinating with governmental and community organizations, handling follow-up services and customer concerns, and overseeing vendor relationships. May perform embalming tasks as needed and will lead staff with a focus on empathy, customer focus, and ethical standards. Requires 5+ years in funeral home operations, licensure as a funeral director/embalmer, appropriate education, and supervisory experience, with availability for holidays, evenings, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the operations of a Funeral Home
- Licensed funeral director and embalmer or the ability to obtain a state license
- Degree from an accredited school of embalming or mortuary science (business degree is preferred)
- 1 year of supervisory or management experience
- Proven leadership, customer service, sales and communication skills
- Ability to supervise, motivate, and train personnel
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
- Availability to work holidays, evenings and weekends as needed
