Job Summary
Conduct funeral arrangement discussions with next of kin, preside over visitation, funeral, and graveside services, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Facilitate arrangements conferences by assessing family needs, discussing insurance and benefits, and transitioning to service counselors for contract completion. Perform removals, transfers, and attendant duties including parking lot work, while visually inspecting deceased and verifying casket dressings and personal belongings. Plan events by ordering resources like music and catering, producing memorabilia products, and managing room setup and cleanup. Maintain licensure and driver's license to operate company vehicles, adhering to all mortuary, health, and vital statistics standards within the funeral establishment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science
- Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state
- Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Positive attitude
- Drive to continually advance your understanding of the industry and business
- Highly self-motivated
- Ability to build professional and trusting business relations
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Public speaking skills with the ability to influence and gain consensus
- Proficient using databases in automated processes
- Proficient MS Office skills
- Flexibility of availability as services may occur outside of normal business hours and working nights and weekends is frequently necessary
