Job Summary
The Funeral Director is accountable for performing a variety of tasks during the preparation, planning, and execution of the funeral and memorialization process to ensure services run smoothly and that the expectations of our client families and their guests are exceeded. Essential Functions include consulting with client families to design services, presenting options, obtaining required documents, coordinating service details with clergy and organizations, recording merchandise selections, planning visitations and services, supervising staff during services, preparing the deceased, arranging transportation and shipment of remains, and overseeing apprentices. Competencies include communication, teamwork, detail orientation, thoroughness, customer service, social perceptiveness, time management. Requires a four-year degree or equivalent, two years licensed Funeral Director experience, and a valid state license; computer proficiency (MS Office) and ability to engage with client families and community organizations. Travel up to 10 percent may be required. Supervisory responsibility is none.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director.
- Valid and applicable state Funeral Director License; reciprocal across states and in good standing.
- Valid state issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
