Job Summary
Meet with families to arrange funeral, memorial, and cremation services, coordinating details of the funeral liturgy with parish staff, clergy, musicians, and cemeteries. Deliver the ministry in accordance with the Rites of Christian Burial while accurately preparing correspondence and documents such as death certificates and contracts. Coordinate shipping and receiving of decedents, process merchandise orders, and assist families with obituaries and flower arrangements. Maintain general cleanliness of the Funeral Center and arrangement rooms. This role supports the St. Mary Cemetery and Funeral Center's mission to serve families during times of need.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Funeral Director
- Valid California Driver's License
- Catholic in good standing
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate Degree
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
- Excellent interpersonal and phone skills
- Great organizational skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Professional temperament and appearance
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Ability to work and relate to a variety of personalities and cultures with diplomacy, friendliness and poise
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to handle multiple assignments consecutively and prioritize workload
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for evening shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic with knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church
- Associate Degree, preferred
