Job Summary
The Fund Accounting Director will direct the day-to-day accounting and fund administration for multiple investment sponsors, with extensive hands-on involvement in preparing and reviewing workpapers, investments, accruals, and financial statements. The role involves heavy client interaction, leading and mentoring a team of Staff Accountants, overseeing the initial setup of client funds, and managing special projects. Candidates should have significant experience in fund accounting and supervisory roles, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex financial documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of fund accounting experience in either a Private Equity Fund, Private Equity Fund Administrator, or other financial institution
- 5+ years of supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics and/or Finance
- Comfortable with PIK/OID calculations
- Advanced experience in preparing capital calls and distributions including complicated waterfall models
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Technical Knowledge and Business Acumen
- Ability to learn on-the-job quickly, apply learning to clients and recommend solutions to issues
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in processes and procedures in a rapidly changing environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Superior problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to think independently, prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Strong leadership skills and management skills
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced Mezzanine/Credit/Loan Origination investment experience preferred
- Very comfortable in understanding and navigating through Partnership Agreements, legal documents, and Investment Agreements
- Advanced knowledge of types of Reporting for Investment Funds / Investment Companies and Investors in USGAAP
- Extensive Microsoft suite skills - Excel (pivots), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
