Job Summary
Drive ISO 26262 safety lifecycle activities for Electric Drive Systems from concept through SOP, defining roadmaps, safety goals, and strategies aligned with VinFast processes. Lead creation of Item Definition, HARA, and ASIL classifications for traction inverters, HV components, and control algorithms, while developing FSC, TSC, and safety requirements. Manage safety deliverables, timelines, and cross-functional coordination with system, hardware, software, and testing teams to ensure robust ASIL C/D compliance. Serve as the primary technical interface for functional safety assessments, customer audits, and internal ASPICE reviews, leading closure of safety-related findings. Mentor engineers on FuSa methodology and best practices. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering required with mandatory ISO 26262 certification and 5–7+ years of experience leading FuSa for EDS programs.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control Engineering or related field
- Functional Safety certification required (FS Eng / FS Expert – ISO 26262)
- 5~7+ years experience in Functional Safety for automotive systems
- Strong experience with ISO 26262 Part 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 work products
- 3~5+ years specifically in EDS / Inverter / e-Powertrain FuSa
- Proven experience leading FuSa activities across System, HW, and SW domains for ASIL C/D programs
- Strong knowledge of ASPICE processes, requirement management, and safety lifecycle
- Hands-on experience with system architecture for EV drive units and safety concept development
- Experienced with DFMEA, HARA, FTA, FMEDA, safety case, DIA, and FuSa audits, assessments, confirmation reviews
- Hands-on experience with HV systems, power electronics, inverter safety mechanisms, torque safety path, thermal protection, sensor plausibility, and diagnostics
- ISO 26262:2018 Certified Functional Safety Engineer (mandatory)
- Skilled in analysis tools: Medini, APIS IQ, Ansys FMEDA, FaultTree+
- Strong understanding of power electronics, inverter architecture, control loops, safety monitoring
- Ability to derive FuSa requirements from customer SRS & vehicle-level safety goals
- Skilled in defining HW/SW architectural safety patterns (redundancy, diagnostics, watchdogs, plausibility)
- Experience supporting safety V&V, test case definition, coverage analysis
- Strong FUSA documentation & audit preparation ability
- Excellent communication & stakeholder alignment (OEM, assessor, internal teams)
- Leadership mindset, with ability to influence design decisions
- Ability to manage multiple safety activities in parallel and meet milestone timelines
- Experience in ASPICE SYS.1–SYS.5 and SWE/HWE processes
