Job Summary
Monitor and work with program participants at the Ticonderoga Teen Center and Silver Bay Summer Camp, leading physical, social, and educational activities for youth ages 13 to 18. Assist with Leaders Club meetings, values activities, community service projects, and chaperone teens to regional rallies. Enforce staff-to-camper ratios, assist with swimming, ensure site cleanliness, and notify supervisors of equipment repairs. Maintain participant sign-in/sign-out logs and know participant locations at all times. Participate in emergency procedure training and other scheduled activities. This 24-hour operation requires staff to work weekends, evenings, night shifts, and holidays. Candidates must hold CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, maintain a valid driver's license, pass a criminal background check, and complete required Y training within 14 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with staff, peers, children, volunteers, and parents who represent a diverse community
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to enforce rules in a professional and positive manner
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or willingness to be certified
- Child Abuse Prevention and other Y training
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to adjust to effectively relate to each child
- Ability to reach, kneel, and lift 15 pounds
- Must be available for weekends, evenings, night shifts, and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in implementing fun, meaningful, and age-appropriate programs for youth and teens
