Job Summary
Evaluate animal condition, provide medical treatment, and administer vaccinations and medications for all animals received by the Lexington Humane Society and LFACC. Assist the Veterinarian with surgical procedures, complete veterinary tasks as directed, and perform euthanasia in accordance with laws and regulations. Check for identification, determine age and breed, follow quarantine protocols, and ensure accurate data entry into Shelter Buddy while maintaining strict confidentiality. Manage medical waste disposal, complete drug logs, and maintain equipment using appropriate PPE. Work 40 hours weekly with weekends required, reporting to the Animal Welfare Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Available to work 40 hours/week
- WEEKENDS ARE A MUST
- Must be 21 years of age
- Have a high school diploma
- Submit to a background check
- Be eligible for Kentucky State Euthanasia Specialist Certification
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Strong commitment to the mission and purpose of LHS and LFACC
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant
