Full Time Substitute - High School Special Education Teacher

Job Summary
Develop and administer curriculum consistent with district goals while creating a welcoming, safe learning environment for students. Deliver effective instruction, including individual and small group sessions for students with special needs, and conduct ongoing assessments to modify teaching methods. Create lesson plans, maintain accurate record-keeping for grading and attendance, and coordinate with professional staff to evaluate curriculum. Encourage parental involvement, supervise out-of-classroom activities, and administer standardized tests in accordance with district programs. Requires current substitute authorization through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and knowledge of applicable federal and state laws.
Required Qualifications
- Current substitute authorization through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy enabling differentiation
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability to use computer network system, technology devices and software applications
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, coworkers and the greater community
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
- Reliable work attendance
