Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •At least 18 years of age

• •Ability to physically manage students and equipment
• •Ability to read and understand maps
• •Ability to drag 125 pounds 30 feet in less than 30 seconds

• •Ability to move rapidly through the interior of the bus
• •Ability to work in temperatures above 100° and below 32°
• •Ability to walk on slippery surfaces
• •Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints
• •Ability to interact with public and other workers
• •Ability to raise his/her voice to be heard in a loud environment
• •Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• •Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems
• •Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• •Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers
• •Ability to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
• •Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
• •Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words
• •Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
• •Ability to print and speak simple sentences
• •Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
• •Ability to observe student behavior and advise supervisor
• •Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally with students, parents, school staff, and transportation employees
• •Ability to maintain calm, consistent, and structured interactions that support student regulation and emotional safety
• •Ability to utilize de-escalation strategies and approved crisis-intervention techniques
• •Ability to monitor students continuously for changes in medical status, behavioral concerns, and immediately alert the driver and supervisor
• •Ability to implement and follow individualized student plans including IEPs, BIPs, and IHPs
• •Ability to assist with loading, securing, and monitoring students who use wheelchairs, harnesses, safety vests, car seats, adaptive equipment, or medical devices
• •Ability to provide specialized assistance to the driver and direct support to students with medical, behavioral, and complex needs
• •Ability to document incidents, behaviors, medical concerns, clearly and accurately, submitting reports to the Transportation Supervisor
• •Ability to perform all duties in compliance with district policies, safety standards, and state transportation regulations
• •Ability to attend required safety trainings, medical-response trainings, behavior trainings, and transportation in-services throughout the year
• •Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students
• •Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
