Job Summary

The Shelter Monitor role involves monitoring residents in a shelter setting, ensuring compliance with program rules, and promoting safety and sanitation. Responsibilities include maintaining logs and records, monitoring medications, assisting residents with problem-solving, conducting rounds and inspections, supervising activities and visits, responding to inquiries, managing donations, and participating in staff meetings and trainings. The position supports collaboration with Case Managers to help residents achieve stable housing, with a Monday–Friday 9:00 am–5:00 pm schedule, and requires CPR/First Aid certification after hire.

Required Qualifications

  • The successful candidate shall possess a B.A. Degree in Human Services or related field; or a High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years’ community based social services experience or other related experience with homeless adults, mentally ill or substance abusers
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing; ability to prepare written reports; monitor and direct program activities; ensure safety and security of program operations
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Homeless Management Information System databases; bilingual Spanish preferred
