Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures including ABG, PFTs, and various forms of ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene therapy and airway maintenance. The RRT must be proficient in respiratory assessment and treatment of both adults and neonates, performed under indirect supervision according to departmental policies. Duties include respiratory therapeutics (oxygen administration/weaning, aerosol/humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR, mechanical ventilation), diagnostic reports (ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, ECG), patient assessments, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, infection control, safety and quality assurance, and use of customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction. The role serves Methodist Richardson Medical Center and affiliated facilities with a focus on a diverse patient population.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification
- NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support must obtain within 1 year of hire
- Licensed by Texas Medical Board as Respiratory Care Practitioner
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- At least 6 months respiratory care experience
