Job Summary

Conduct therapeutic and diagnostic procedures including ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, and airway maintenance for adults and neonates under indirect supervision. Perform cardiopulmonary diagnostics, prepare treatment evaluations, and troubleshoot equipment such as ventilators and blood gas analyzers. Execute bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, and infection control protocols while maintaining patient records and ensuring quality assurance. Requires current Texas licensure, NRP certification, and at least six months of respiratory care experience. This role supports Methodist Dallas Medical Center, a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center offering comprehensive stroke and neonatal care.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification
  • NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (must obtain within 1 year of hire)
  • Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • At least 6 months respiratory care experience
  • 12 x 3 days work schedule
  • Any 3 days of the week availability
  • 12X3 Day shift availability
  • Indirect supervision by department's medical director
  • Departmental policies and procedures compliance
  • Knowledge of respiratory assessment and respiratory treatment for adults and neonates
  • Sensitivity to diverse and unique patient needs based on age, sex, race and culture
  • Proficiency with respiratory assessment and respiratory treatment
  • Ability to care for patients of all age groups
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT's when reviewing patient data
  • Ability to assemble, check, operate and troubleshoot cardiopulmonary equipment
  • Ability to perform required cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas
  • Ability to utilize appropriate customer scripting
