Job Summary
Prepare meals in accordance with food safety standards, facility policies, and local, state, and federal regulations while promoting resident choice and comfort. Cooperatively work with residents, co-workers, families, and volunteers to maintain a positive dining environment. Assist with food preparation and serving, transport residents, and clean spills or remove trash as needed. Participate in household meetings and learning circles, fulfilling simple resident requests while treating everyone with respect. Work 12-hour shifts in a long-term care setting.
Required Qualifications
- Freedom from illegal use of drugs and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
- Must be able to speak, read & write the English language in an understandable manner
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of position can be fully met
- Ability to move freely
- Regularly up to 25 pounds lifting
- Occasionally climbing/balancing
- Regularly stooping/bending
- Occasionally pushing up to 25 lbs
- Regularly standing, sitting, walking
- Regularly reaching
- Must be able to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of dietary programs

- Respect for all people - residents, co-workers, family members, doctors, volunteers, and anyone who visits our home

- Chef training preferred
- Experience in cooking in a food service setting, preferably in a health care facility
- Certification in food safety
