Job Summary
Assess and perform overall patient evaluations, including PICC line placement while maintaining aseptic technique to prevent trauma. Document insertion confirmation, medication administration, and facility charges to ensure fiscal viability of the program. Provide patient education on care and maintenance, communicate effectively with families and providers, and participate in performance improvement activities. Complete required paperwork, obtain informed consent, and assist with facility rounds and clinical support meetings. Maintain clinical competency by inserting a minimum of six PICCs annually and support the Director of Vascular Access.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree in Nursing
- Current RN (Registered Nursing) license
- PICC Certification
- Current BLS certification
- Must have good knowledge base for caring for central venous catheters
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- 2 years of OR, IR, or PICC insertion experience
