Job Summary
Perform thorough initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate residents' mobility, pain levels, strength, and overall functionality. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each resident's unique goals and in accordance with physician recommendations. Provide evidence-based therapy sessions that aim to improve mobility, alleviate pain, and prevent future injuries. Educate residents, their families, and caregivers on effective therapeutic techniques and at-home exercise regimens. Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with nursing and occupational therapy teams to develop comprehensive care strategies. Document care plans and resident progress accurately, complying with Medicare and state regulations. Work Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM in a facility focused on senior rehabilitation.
Required Qualifications
- A current and valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in Virginia (or eligibility for licensure)
- A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
- Current CPR/BLS certification or the willingness to obtain certification upon hire
- Strong communication skills
- Empathy
- The ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a collaborative care team
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of experience as a Physical Therapist
- Experience in a geriatric or long-term care setting
- Expertise in creating treatment plans that cater to the unique challenges faced by elderly patients
- DPT degree
