Job Summary
Full-time Personal Care Assistant / 1:1 Paraeducator at Cedar Crest High School, providing instructional, behavioral and personal care support per the student’s IEP under the supervision of the classroom teacher and program supervisor. Scheduled for 6.75 hours per day, Monday–Friday during the school year (7:15 am–2:00 pm, 185 days/year). Responsibilities include assisting with lifting students (pre-school to 21 years old) and managing assistive devices; training in Crisis Prevention Institute, Safe Crisis Management, or Quality Behavior Supports will be provided as needed. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and either PA Paraeducator Credential of Competency or 48 post-secondary credits or an associate degree or higher, plus 20 hours of staff development annually. The role may end based on student placement or needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- PA Paraeducator Credential of Competency Certificate (or willing to complete the FREE online program within 6 months of hire date)
- OR 48 post-secondary credits in ANY content area
- OR Associate degree or higher in ANY content area
- Willing to complete 20 hours of staff development each school year
- Evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to position each school year (as required by PA Department of Education)
